Siddig El Tahir El Fadil El Siddig Abdurrahman Mohammed Ahmed Abdel Karim El Mahdi, sahne adıyla Alexander Siddig, 21 Kasım 1965 tarihinde Sudan'da dünyaya gelmiştir. Babası Sudanlı, annesi İngiliz olan Siddig'in soy ağacı Sudan'ın önemli siyasi figürlerinden Mehdi ailesine dayanır (dayısı eski Sudan Başbakanı Sadiq al-Mahdi'dir), ayrıca ünlü İngiliz aktör Malcolm McDowell'ın da yeğenidir.
