Wolf Kahler, 3 Nisan 1940 tarihinde Kiel, Almanya'da dünyaya gelmiştir. Almanya'da doğan Kahler, oyunculuk eğitimi almak için İngiltere'ye gitmiş ve kariyerine 1970'lerde başlamıştır.
